Les Gorgues is located in the countryside near to and with views of the nearby village of Menerbes just 3km away. The village is one of the most attractive in the area and several restaurants and bars, two bakers, a butcher, small supermarket, pharmacy and doctor. Good Cotes de Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon wine can be bought at any of the local Caves Co-operatives at the sort of price you dream of - our favourite is the Cave Co-operative de Bonnieux just off the main valley road the N100. There are many good restaurants in the area.

Further afield, the attractions of Avignon, Aix, St. Remy, Nimes, Orange and Arles are all within easy exploring distance with the beaches of the Cote d'Azur and the Camargue accessible within around 2 hours via the Autoroute. The nearest airport is Marseille - approximately one hours drive from Menerbes. To drive by autoroute from Le Havre is around 10-12 hours.

If you visit the area in July or August and all you wish to do is lie in or around the pool, this is a lovely place to do just that but other times of the year are just as beautiful. Springtime is delightful with the cherry orchards in full bloom, the lavender fields look beautiful in June and early July and in September/October the vendage begins. This area is renowned for its sunshine days and blue skies all year round.

The House

The house, an appartment, is part of an old restored farm, possibly more than 250 years old. It is independent of the main house with its own separate entrance. The pretty stone built building is all on one level and has a charming sitting room with large provencal fireplace, a kitchen/ dining room and two bedrooms. The house is delightfully decorated in provencal style.

The fully fitted kitchen has a cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The kitchen opens out on to a large terrace leading to the garden and swimming pool. The double bedroom leads off the living room and has a pretty aspect across the garden and swimming pool. A twin bedded second bedroom is at the rear of the house and a shower room with toilet is shared by the two bedrooms. There is a separate toilet off the living room. All the rooms are attractively furnished and the house is ideal for a couple but comfortably accommodates 4 people and can accommodate 5 with the use of a sofa bed in the living room. There are electric heaters for the cooler months and the fireplace is fully functioning for log fires.

The garden is secluded and there are plenty of pleasant sitting out areas and chairs and tables are provided for eating out together with a BBQ. The 10x5m swimming pool with its large pool house with barbecue is surrounded by a large paved area with lots of sunbathing space and loungers are provided. The pool operates from the beginning of June to the end of September. The pool is exclusively for the use of Les Gorgues clients and the owners, who occupy the main house.

Bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided.

A broadband wifi connection is available.



Booking Conditions

We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking. A returnable damages deposit of £300 is also payable at time of final payment. This is refunded after your departure once the house has been checked. All telephone charges, breakage's, etc. will be made against the deposit and the balance returned to you. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to have time to check the house, change beds, clean the pool and tidy the garden etc. we ask guests to arrive between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and to leave at 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained unless we can re-let or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance which covers cancellation. This is widely available, for example from airlines, ferry companies, and the AA.
