Maison Glanum is a charmingly restored provencal house with a pretty garden and private pool located in the countryside on the outskirts of the delightful old market town of St. Remy in the Alpilles, an area of outstanding natural beauty in southern Provence. The whole area is rich in history and lovely countryside.
The house is just 10 minutes walk from the town which has a great choice of shops, lively bars and restaurants. The town with its associations with Van Gogh and interesting museums and galleries is a delight to explore. Well placed for exploring the Alpilles area and its pretty villages and olive groves, this house is also well located for excursions further afield to Arles, Avignon, Nimes and the Camargue. The house is central to the historical highlights of St. Remy. Just a very short walk from the house is the St. Paul Mausoleum where Van Gogh spent his most prolific year, the archaeological remains of the pre-Roman city of Glanum and Les Antiques – a huge well preserved triumphal arch and a mausoleum located on Avenue Van Gogh.
Maison Glanum is a single storey stone built house with a warm and welcoming ambience. The pale stone tiled floors give the house a light and airy feeling and the house has a good sunny aspect. There is good comfortable living space and a large kitchen and sunny bedrooms overlooking the garden, some with their own outdoor stone terrace.
The house has five bedrooms comfortably sleeping up to 9 people. The comfortable living room with its large sofas is south facing overlooking the garden and pool and has a large open provencal fireplace. A television and DVD player are provided for entertainment. The television has satellite reception with some English channels. The house also has a wifi internet connection. There is a dining area between the living room and kitchen and a large outdoor table on the terrace for al fresco dining.
The large kitchen with lots of cooking space leads out onto the terrace and garden. It is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric oven and gas hob and microwave. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board in the separate utility room.
The house sleeps up to 9 people in three double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a small single bedroom. All the bedrooms and charmingly furnished and are light and airy and have plenty of storage space. The master double bedroom is double aspect overlooking the garden to the front and side of the house. Next to this bedroom is a separate bathroom with bath and in-bath shower and wc. To the rear of the house down a couple of steps are the other four bedrooms. Two doubles each with a small outdoor terrace, a pretty twin bedroom and a cosy single bedroom. There are two shower rooms each with a wc, and there is also a separate wc next to the twin bedroom. All the shower rooms can be used as ensuite.
The house is south facing with an enclosed garden shaded by a olive and pine trees and with lovely views through to the Alpilles mountains and countryside. There is a private free form swimming pool with a very practical secure fold back pool cover. Sun loungers are provided for relaxing in the garden. The shady pergola with big wooden table and a pretty stone table under the pines provide al fresco dining areas. A hammock for hanging between the trees and relaxing on a hot summers day and boules for slightly more active outdoor entertainment are also available. There are lovely countryside views from the garden right over to the mountains beyond. A bbq is available.
There is private parking at the property. Bed linen and towels, including pool towels are provided and also a cleaner for the end of your stay.
Maison Glanum is a very comfortable provencal home in a lovely countryide location with good outdoor living space and pool for a relaxing holiday, but with the added attraction of a lovely old market town just a short walk from the house.
We are very conscious of safety and the potential hazard of swimming pools for young children, for this reason we do not accept bookings from families with children under five.
We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking. A returnable damages deposit of £400 is also payable at time of final payment. This is refunded after your departure once the house has been checked. All telephone charges, breakage's, etc. will be made against the deposit and the balance returned to you. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to have time to check the house, change beds, clean the pool and tidy the garden etc. we ask guests to arrive between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and to leave at 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.
In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained unless we can re-let or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance which covers cancellation. This is widely available, for example from airlines, ferry companies, and the AA.
