The Mas des Sources is a beautiful 18th century mas (French farmhouse) and is situated a short distance from the lovely old village of Mausanne in the Alpilles area of Provence. Maussanne has a choice of good restaurants, a small supermarket, boulangerie and everything you need for everyday living. The whole area is rich in history. With its wealth of historical and artistic sites, and the beautiful mountains humming to the sound of the cicadas in the summer, the Alpilles for many epitomises Provence. Pine forests, olive groves and vineyards provide the quintessential provencal landscape. Avignon, Arles, Nimes and Aix en Provence are within easy exploring distance. The UNESCO world heritage site of the Pont du Gard, the perched villages of the Parc Naturel du Luberon and the Camargue are also very close as is the Mediterranean sea - within an hours drive.

The House

The beautifully restored Mas des Sources is a two storey stone built house located on a quiet country lane approximately 1km from the village – 3 minutes by car, around 20 minutes on foot. It is surrounded by a charming courtyard garden with an ancient fig tree, rosemary, thyme and wisteria. The house has private off street parking with gates for extra security.

The house provides comfortable accommodation with all modern comforts. A perfect combination of old and new. There is a large and well equipped kitchen with two fridges, freezer, drinks fridge, Tassimo coffee maker, electric oven & large gas hob, microwave, dishwasher. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the separate utility room. The kitchen leads through to dining room with a convivial table comfortably seating 12 people plus. Continuing beyond the dining room is a large light spacious living room which looks out onto the garden and has cosy sofas for relaxing and a large provencal open fireplace. There is an additional small dining corner in the living room. The house has a DVD and television (English channels only) for entertainment plus a good selection of books and games. The house has broadband wifi internet connection.

There are 6 bedrooms – three on the first floor and one on the ground floor of the house and a further two separate bedrooms in separate buildings near the swimming pool. The master bedroom on the first floor has a double bed and en suite shower room and toilet. There is an additional double on the first floor and a third bedroom with twin beds. These two bedrooms share a large family bathroom with bath and walk in shower. There is a separate wc. On the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with en suite shower and wash basin. There is an adjacent separate wc. The downstairs bedroom has doors out to the courtyard and garden. Two further bedrooms, each with a double bed and en suite shower room and wc are located across the courtyard from the main house.

The large swimming pool is south facing and overlooks fields and olive groves of the Alpilles countryside. There is plenty of relaxing space around the pool and pool loungers are provided. There is a gas bbq for guests use and two areas to relax and dine outside, whether under the shade of the fig tree or beneath the wisteria.

Bed linen and towels are provided together with a cleaning service at the end of your stay and also mid stay for bookings of two weeks or longer. A caretaker visits most days (without disturbing guests) to check the pool and water plants.

Please note, this house may not be suitable for young children. There are some steep staircases and extra care is needed. We may however be able to accept young babies so please check with us at time of booking. Pets are not allowed.

The Mas des Sources is a delightful, peaceful and private house with plenty of living space for large family parties or a group of friends and ideally located for exploring the Alpilles area and beyond.

Rental Cost

The rent includes all services including heating during the winter months. A cleaning service is provided for a mid stay clean and linen change for rentals of two weeks or more, and also for the end of your stay. A cleaning service can be arranged during your stay by prior arrangement at time of booking.

Booking Conditions

We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking. We also require a £500 deposit against damages paid at the same time as the final balance. Any breakages or damage will be made against the deposit, together with the cost of telephone calls made during your stay, and the balance returned to you. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to clean and check the house we ask guests to arrive between after 4 p.m. and to leave before 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained unless we can re-let or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance which covers cancellation. This is widely available, for example from airlines, ferry companies, and the AA.
